A few decades ago, people simply burned garden waste, but nowadays this is unfriendly behaviour not only to neighbours, but also to the environment, in addition to this, you can get a fine if you burn the garden waste in the UK. Fortunately, there are now much better ways to get rid of waste.

All that you have left after mowing grass or cutting hedges, you can recycle into compost. In addition to the fact that you will dispose of garden waste for free, you will also get an excellent fertilizer for the soil.

In addition to the mown grass, you can add fallen leaves or vegetable peelings there. To make a good compost, it needs to be done in layers, adding a little soil or manure every 6 inches. After you do this, cover the compost pile and leave it for six months or a year so that all the “ingredients” rot. After that, you will have a wonderful garden compost that you didn’t have to pay for. You can use it when planting new plants or fertilize beds to increase fertility.

Use a special container

If you don’t need compost, or you don’t have room for a compost heap, or your garden waste is too much, then use your county’s special green trash can to get rid of the waste.

In most counties, local authorities themselves offer such containers, if there were no offers, and you need it, then request it yourself. These green containers can be both paid and free, it all depends on where you live. Collecting garden waste in such green tanks, they will be disposed of correctly – in a certain place they will make the same compost as it was proposed to make on your site.
